Vice President of the World Bank visits Accra Digital Center

the Accra Digital Center is a mini-technology park of the Government of Ghana under the Ministry of Communications with the mandate to stimulate digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

During his visit to Ghana, Dr. Hafez Ghanem met with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Senior Minister, the Minister of Communications, the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank and other senior officials.

The digital center of Accra was partially funded by the World Bank.

Once again, the innovation center of Accra Digital Center, Ghana Innovation Hub) and a mobile application laboratory (Ghana Tech Lab) under the Innovation module of the eTransform Ghana Project was funded by a grant from the World Bank.

The director general of the center, Mr. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, as well as his management team, welcomed Dr. Ghanem and his entourage.

The World Bank delegation included the country director of the World Bank, other senior officials of the bank and the eTransform Department of Communications team.

Ofosu Nkansah and David Ofori, director of operations of the Accra Digital Center, led Veep World Bank and his team during a guided tour of the center.

The visit began at the Center's Mobile Applications Lab (Ghana Tech Lab), which is run by an Innohub-Kumasi Hive joint venture, where he visited the Creative Space, Training Room, Maker Space and Co-working spaces. incubated and trainees who shared their training experiences with him.

He then continued his tour in the Center's Innovation Center (Ghana Innovation Hub), managed by a consortium of West African Defense Forces, Bluespace and Ghana Technology University. , where he interacted with more than incubated and Tech startups, some of which are following a British Council-style training program.

The team also visited the business process outsourcing hub, where it exchanged with Ayo management and intermediary agents and finally the SME technology hub where it traded with companies like Kudigo, specialized in Fintech solutions.

Dr. Ghanem and his team were impressed by the activities of the center.

The digital center in Accra has now been oversubscribed with some 40 technology companies, creating some 2,000 digital and auxiliary jobs.

The World Bank is committed to strengthening its support for the center in the future.
