Express Clinic Labette Health in Oswego

OSWEGO, Kan. – Greater access to health care will soon come to Oswego, Kansas.

After the closure of the Oswego Community Hospital in February, Labette Health's office announced the opening of a temporary clinic to help fill in the gaps.

This clinic is now scheduled to open on April 1st.

Construction workers are battling rain to build a wheelchair ramp for Labette Health's new Oswego clinic and Express Care.

Inside, the finishes for the 608 Commercial Building to feel like a clinic before it opens on April 1st.

Cindi Major, Nurse Practitioner: "I will be so happy to see my patients again."

Cindi Major was a nurse practitioner at the Chetopa Community Clinic for about ten years before her closure, alongside the Oswego Community Clinic and Hospital.

Major: "There was not much time to prepare … not much time to prepare for the patients either, which left them somewhat embarrbaded."

Major .. and other doctors and nurses at Labette Health have spent weeks helping patients close the gap.

Major and Smith will be working at the new clinic … which will offer standard nursing services such as exams and vaccines … urgent care for minor injuries … and even a shuttle service to Labette Health in Parsons for testing.

A temporary home until Labette Health can build a permanent clinic in the community.

The clinic will be open from Monday to Friday from 8h to 20h and Saturday from 8h to 14h.
