A new robot very similar to a Moa bird has been designed to lighten the load of workers in warehouses.
The machine, called Handle, is a Boston Dynamics-designed mobile robot for logistics.
The six foot tall machine weighs over 100 kg and has a counterweight at the rear that moves dynamically.
The company has also developed other robots that run and maneuver like animals. In recent years, the technology company, owned by the Japanese group SoftBank, has released videos of dog-like robots unloading dishwashers and climbing stairs.
"We are proud to build machines that transcend borders and work in the real world," says his website.
This week, the company released a video on YouTube featuring its new robot – the one that takes on the appearance of a Moa – a giant bird without flying that was discovered in New Zealand hundreds of years ago .
The video shows the robot sliding on wheels, picking up and moving big boxes.
"Handle is a robot that combines the ability of difficult terrain with the efficiency of the wheels," says the company's website.
"The handle can handle heavy loads while occupying a small footprint, allowing it to maneuver in tight spaces."
