Ubisoft will continue its partnership with Epic Games Store after The Division 2, including Anno 1800. As of April 16, 2019, the digital version of the built strategy game will only be available at Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store. The game can still be pre-ordered on Steam until the release, after which it will no longer be available on the distribution platform. All pre-orders on Steam will receive the game for publication as well as all future game content and updates via Steam – even at the same time. Incidentally, the open beta (April 12-14, 2019) will be available via Uplay and Epic Games Store.
Ubisoft continues to write (original text): "Ubisoft is committed to offering all Anno 1800 players the same gaming experience, no matter which digital store they purchased the game from. (…) The Anno 1800 multiplayer mode will work on Uplay regardless of the selected digital store and will allow all Anno 1800 players to play together. "
