March 29, 2019 –
Starting June 26th, the Google Drive Plugin for Outlook will no longer work. Functions to access Google Drive from the email client are now provided through the Drive File Stream tool.

About three years ago, Google launched the Drive for Outlook plug-in ("Swiss IT Magazine" report). The extension allows you to insert files stored in the Google Drive online storage service into Outlook as an attachment to a mail. As the Internet company now advertises via the G-Suite Updates blog, the Google Drive plug-in for Microsoft Office is being replaced and can not be used from June 26th. Users who use the plug-in will be notified immediately of the expiration date.

The feature of the extension will be supported from an updated version of Drive File Stream. Starting with version 30.1, Drive File Stream allows you to save Outlook attachments to Google Drive and access its files to attach to a mail.

Stream File Drive is available for download for Windows 7 and later operating systems.
