Patrick Obeng Hamza, a 25-year-old man, lost his life in a local gin – Akpeteshie – a drinking competition in Ntankoful in the metropolis of Sekondi-Takoradi – 225 km from the capital Accra.
Police said the incident occurred Thursday.
The incident that shocked the young man led the deceased to consume two bottles of local strong alcohol.
Hamza died in his third bottle attempt, said a manager.
He was taken to a clinic in Ntankoful where he was pronounced dead.
According to locals, another collapsed during the excessive competition but was reinstated after receiving food.
