Purina recalls wet cat food due to "potential presence of rubber pieces"

(Gray News) – Nestlé Purina PetCare Company is voluntarily recalling some wet cat food because it may contain pieces of rubber.

The company announced Friday the national recall of a limited amount of food for wet cats Muse. Recipe for natural chicken in sauce in 3 oz cans due to the possible presence of rubber pieces in the product "translucent yellow with a blue background, which could present a potential choking hazard."

For customers who have purchased an badortment of varieties, only the Natural Chicken Recipe in Sauce Boxes is included in the recall.

Purina said she became "problem conscious" after pet owners complained of finding pieces of rubber in cat food.

The company said that changes had been made so that the problem would not happen again.

Purina has not received reports of injuries or diseases in cats because of rubber pieces.

Customers who have purchased the recalled food are encouraged to dispose of these products and contact the company for alternative solutions. Purina is available at 1-800-982-3885, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Purina also asked retailers to stop selling the affected products.

No other Purina product is concerned with the recall, the company said.
