Why Meghan Markle "was advised to Charles not to wear a tiara for the state dinner"

Prince Charles warned Meghan Markle not to wear a tiara at her first dinner abroad. The latter had warned that it would not be appropriate, according to reports.

The Prince of Wales has reportedly told the Duchess of Susbad that the move may seem "extravagant" during her trip to Fiji last year.

The 37-year-old had apparently wanted to borrow a jeweled tiara from the Royal Collection for a tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand with Harry.

However, his stepfather would have stepped in to say that it was best to avoid doing so in Commonwealth areas where this can be considered "extravagant".

A source told The Mail on Sunday: "Meghan did not understand all of this because she was new to the role and so Prince Charles told her that it would not be appropriate.

It was apparently advised Charles not to wear Charles's tiara for the event.

"It was very nicely done."

Meghan had hoped to wear the sumptuous helmet during a state dinner at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva last October, it was said.

That night, she wore a long blue Safiyaa robe and a pair of earrings that would have been borrowed from the Royal Collection.

In contrast, Kate Middleton wore a large diamond and pearl headdress belonging to Princess Diana for an event at Buckingham Palace.

One source said the gesture was very kindly done

It is believed that Charles has been playing a more active role in planning overseas tours since the Queen's retreat in 2015.

The choice of whether or not to wear a tiara is determined by the dress code of the event, as well as by personal preferences.

State dinners are also less formal than state banquets, which could have been another reason why Meghan has been released from the tiara,

Among the guests at the event were diplomats, local business leaders and the cream of Fijian society.

The Grand Pacific is one of the favorite hotels of the kidneys. The Queen stayed there five times, in 1963, 1970, 1973, 1977 and 1982.

Prince Charles arrived three times, in 1970, 1985 and 2005, and Prince Andrew remained in 1998.

Princess Ann was invited in 2006.
