A driver and his companion accuse the Ghanaian police of using torture to plead guilty
The commercial driver and the second one were seen in viral A video featuring a uniformed police offer accused police of resorting to torture to force him to plead guilty.
During an interview with Joy FM, Mr. Buabeng said that they had been brutalized by police after their initial arrest until their first court appearance. He said fear for their lives when they were placed in police custody for two weeks due to the intensification of torture.
He added that an IDC officer and police officers after the beatings had advised them to accept the plea of guilty and to ask the court for forgiveness.
Mr. Buabeng explained that they had pleaded not guilty to the court because after hearing the charges, they understood that it had not happened.

On March 14, 2019, the driver and his companion were harbaded with the police officer, the agent Julius Mawuli Ekpe. The incident became viral after downloading a video clip on social media.
The court admitted the two men to pay bail of 10,000 cedis each with two bonds. The case was sent back to April 1st.
