VICE PRESIDENT Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia recognized the role of engineers in the infrastructural and economic development of Ghana.

According to him, engineers are essential to building a new Ghana.

He spoke at the weekend of the 50th presidential inauguration banquet of the Ghana Engineering Institution (GhIE) in Akosombo, eastern region.

He insisted that "Engineers are essential when we try to build a new Ghana and that, as part of our ongoing collaboration with the Institution, we have launched the first comprehensive construction code for Ghana" .

He "stressed the fact that engineering is a key area of ​​Ghana's economic development, especially of the local engineering sector".

According to the vice president, "with the help of the institution, we have also set up a body to examine earthquake issues, our state of preparedness and the measures to be taken. to prevent or mitigate its potential impact on life and property. "

The government, he said, will continue to work with the institution on all issues related to engineering excellence.
