Singers Perform Spectacular Songs of Three Religions for King Mohammed VI, Pope Francis

Rabat – The Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra has prepared a special performance to celebrate the visit of Pope Francis to Morocco at the request of King Mohammed VI.

At the spiritual moment, three people representing the three Abrahamic religions placed themselves before King Mohammed VI and Pope Francis to interpret religious songs inspired by Muslim, Christian and Hebrew traditions.

The performance began with the sound of the double bbad and the call to Islamic prayer (addhan) performed by the muezzin Smahi El Hadni, who wore a green Djellaba and a white cape.

Dressed in a fabulous green caftan, French singer François Atlan chanted the Jewish prayer known as Adonai, followed by El Hadni.

The soprano singer, who is also the daughter of conductor Jean-Claude Casadesus, Carlone Casesus joined the theater to sing the motet of Caccini, Ave Maria.

The show amazed the crowd, who attended the ceremony held at the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates (Islamic Advisers).

King Mohammed VI was accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hbadan and his brother, Prince Moulay Rachid.

During the reception, the king and his guest watched a film made by the institute on its objectives, its missions and its various achievements.

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, also delivered a speech to the two leaders, stressing that King Mohammed VI had put in place reforms and introduced a dynamic of concordance between modern institutional frameworks and the aims of religion under different aspects.

During the ceremony, two students from the Mohammed VI Institute shared their experiences in the institution.

Aboubakr Hmaidouch, a French student of North African descent, pointed out that the Muslim community in France is in dire need of imams and preachers. The values ​​of religion, he said, contribute to life in common and to spiritual well-being in society.

After the terrorist attacks that hit France in 2015, Hamaidouch said he felt the need "to acquire knowledge and skills in communication" to be effective in a "society shaped by multiple currents and sometimes by ideas all of made. "The papal visit is part of a historic journey to highlight the importance of coexistence between the Abrahamic religions.

King Mohammed VI and Pope Francis both delivered a speech on the importance of interreligious dialogue and coexistence.

In his speech, King Mohammad VI declared that he wanted to "guarantee the freedom to practice the religions of the Book and I am the guarantor of this freedom".

He added "I protect Moroccan Jews as well as Christians from other countries living in Morocco".
