In Michigan, 30 cases of measles have been confirmed in Oakland and Wayne counties.
The outbreak was reported just over two weeks ago on March 14, when the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services documented a case in Oakland County. Officials said the person with measles remained in New York, where a measles outbreak was reported.
People infected with measles in southeastern Michigan are 1 to 63 years old.
Health officials urge people to be vaccinated, saying the vaccine is "very effective and very safe".
MDHHS is closing its doors with health departments in Oakland and Wayne counties to identify possible exposure sites. A list of known exhibition sites is online.
At the national level, health officials said the number of measles cases in the United States so far in 2019 had surpbaded 2018.
