Akesse Brempong, Saturday, March 30, adds to her stack of awards, the freshest of them; Reggae / Dancehall Song of the Year at the Africa Gospel Awards 2019 (AGAFEST).

The pin of Reggae Gospel beat personalities like "Rejoice" of Sonnie Badu, Kenyan artist, "Shoot Satan" and "Vimbada" of Jabidii, Nigerian act, "Who is like Jesus", "Thank you" of Nat Abbey and "Kenya (Timeless Noel) (Kenya) Odi Dance, to win the award with his song "No Weed".

Although he had to deal with resilient Reggae forces across the African continent, which had equally good songs, his controversial song "No Weed", published to support the campaign against drugs and tramadol in 2018 , affirmed his efficiency and his goal with the victory.

In delivering his acceptance speech, Akesse Brempong dedicated the award to Reverend Michael Griffiths – the original author of the song.

This could well be a prelude to GMA's imminent category as the VGMA Artist of the Year in which he was nominated.
