"In 2016, the total number of exclusive suppliers rose to 622 and 597 were approved, 25 rejected. Restrictive bidding, 592 total received 587 approvals, 5 refused. Total number of requests for 2016, 1,214, total approved 1,184, rejected 30. In percentage terms, 97.5% were approved and 2% were rejected and the savings achieved for this period are nil, " he declared.

"In 2017, we had a total of 420 unique suppliers, we approved 236, and we rejected 184 … limited tenders in 2017, we received a request for 372, we approved 174, and we rejected 198.

The total number of sole-sourcing and restrictive tendering requests thus amounted to 792; For 2017, the total number of approved applications was 410 and the total number of rejected applications was 382. In percentage terms, we approved 51.7% and rejected 48.2%.

In 2018, we received a total of 511 requests, approved 409 and rejected 103. We received 386 restrictive tenders, approved 261 and rejected 125. The total number of requests received for the year, 897, and approved quantities 670, 60 were: rejected, 167 were interviewed. In terms of percentage, 74% approved, 6.4% were rejected and 18.6% asked questions. For savings in 2018, the amount saved was 1,164,269,000 GHC. "

At a press conference Tuesday, the Director General of Purchasing noted that the company lacked funding for its programs and activities. As they are forced to depend on donor funds that come with the prescriptions.

He urged the government and the Ministry of Finance to allocate funds to the Procurement Officer as this would go a long way in facilitating their work.

However, the Procurement Officer indicated that sanctions would be imposed on entities that would not post procurement notices on the PPP website.
