Ghana Gas sure to beat 12 days to supply gas

The Ghana National Gas Company is confident that its team of engineers working on connecting pipelines feeding natural gas power plants will finish the works in advance.

The successful completion of the pipeline engineering, which is the entrance to the Takoradi Dosing and Control Station in Aboadze, is expected to put an end to the irregular power supply resulting from low energy production.

The engineers connect the Ghana Gas Pipelines to the West Africa Pipeline Company (WAPCO) from Nigeria and are originally scheduled to complete the work in 12 days.

However, Ernest Owusu Bempah, GNCC Public Relations Manager, told Myjoyonline.com during an interview that he was determined to complete the engineering work before that date.

"Component instrumentation and electrical activities of shut-off valves [for the outlet and inlet regulating stations], will also be realized. Our engineers are growing. We even try to finish it before the 12 days. "

He added, "Once the connection is complete at Aboadze, an average of 60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (Mscfd) can be moved from west to east. It also depends on the completion of extension works (Tema regulation and dosing station) of Tema by ENI ".

On Tuesday, Energy Deputy Energy Minister William Owuraku Aidoo, on behalf of the government, apologized to Ghanaians for the country's irregular power supply.

He said the government was unhappy with the situation and badured that everything was done to bring the situation under control. The excuses come after Energy Minister Peter Amewu promised two weeks ago that the failures that have left worried Ghanaians will end in five days.

"On behalf of the Honorable Minister and the President, of course, I would like to apologize for what is happening and to make sure that we are doing everything in our power to bring back the. electricity to normal, "he told reporters.

According to Mr. Owusu Bempah, this "connection" has as its primary objective to allow Ghana Gas to carry excess gas into the western enclave to power the thermal power plants of the East Enclave.

"This is a major shutdown planned for strategic engineering work that will significantly improve the power supply in Ghana. We sincerely call the Ghanaian to support us … and we badure them that the current will be restored after the 12-day period, "he said.
