MILAN: Italian rising star Moise Kean has been targeted by racist violence after pursuing her series of goals to push Juventus closer to a title for the eighth consecutive time in Serie A on Tuesday (April 2) with a 2-0 win over Cagliari.

Kean, 19, scored his fourth goal in as many league games in the 85th minute after defender Leonardo Bonucci nodded in the opening match in 22 minutes in Sardinia.

The celebration of the youngster after scoring, however, angered the Sardinian crowd who had made fun of the teenager throughout the match after booking for a dive in the first period.

During the match, Kean, his French team-mate Blaise Matuidi and Brazilian Alex Sandro had been targeted by monkey sounds, but their intensity increased after the second goal.

Kean celebrated with his hands extended in front of the fans of Cagliari after scoring.

But Bonucci claimed that Kean should not have provoked the local fans and that his teammate was partly responsible for the unsavory scenes.

"Kean knows that when he scores a goal, he should celebrate it with his teammates. He knows that he could also have done something different," Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.

"There was racist mockery after the goal, Blaise heard it and got angry.I think the blame is 50-50, because Moses should not have done that and the Curva (fans of Cagliari) should not have reacted that way.

"We are professionals, we must give the example and not provoke anyone."

OBJECTS DISPOSED

Cagliari's supporters seemed to be throwing objects at Kean. The match was interrupted momentarily and a call was made against the speakers. While Matuidi reacted furiously to the jeers at the same stadium where he was targeted last season.

The abuse occurred the day that UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said he would ask the referees to stop the matches in the future, when there are will have racist songs.

"As usual, there are idiots, but also normal people," said Juventus coach Mbadimiliano Allegri.

"We have cameras, we identify and forbid them."

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini, however, criticized Kean for stirring up tensions.

"If (Federico) Bernardeschi did what Kean did, the reaction would have been the same," said Giulini.

"No one has heard of anything yet." Kean made a mistake, he's 19, that's understandable, "he added, claiming that he" had mostly heard of whistles ".

"I do not really like the tendency to self-righteousness, this club has always been exemplary and has always denounced racist behavior."

The win saw Juventus win 18 points over second-placed Napoli, who went to Empoli on Wednesday with only eight games to play.

The next game of the champions will take place at home against AC Milan, previously held by Udinese (1-1).

Juventus held off injured star strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala, while Mario Mandzukic also had the flu.

Italian defender Bonucci scored his third goal of the season in the league after a Bernardeschi corner.

Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno beat Kean twice before the teenager broke through, while Rodrigo Bentancur rolled the ball so he could play.

UDINESE TOOTH MILAN TOP-FOUR HOPES

Kevin Lasagna scored a point for Udinese to further reduce the ambitions of AC Milan.

Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek managed to break through just before the interval after being injured with a center from Patrick Cutrone.

The Italian international Lasagna brought Udinese to a tie after a smooth counter-attack in 65 minutes.

This stalemate complicates the race to the Champions League of Gennaro Gattuso's team, which aims a return to competition for the first time since the 2013-2014 season.

They are in fourth place, the last place in the Champions League, but Lazio is four points behind two games late before moving to SPAL on Wednesday.

"In a season, a team can have ups and downs, we have won five straight and we have a bad time now," said Gattuso, a two-time Champions League winner with Milan as a player.

"When we are not bright, the ball starts weighing 120 kilos, and today we did little, I saw a lazy team in the second half."
