Tottenham can officially be called big club thanks to its new stadium, according to its owner, Daniel Levy.

The breathtaking 62,000-seat arena will finally open for the Premier League visit to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

He has the second largest capacity in England, behind Old Trafford and Arsenal, but Levy insists the club did not think of its neighbors in North London.

"It has nothing to do with Arsenal," he said.

"All I can say is that we wanted to build a stadium with a minimum capacity of 60,000 spectators and that we managed to do it to 62,000 spectators.

"I do not think you can be a big club in a 36,000-seat stadium," added Levy.

"It's a 62,000-seat stadium – the second largest in the UK – and I think our fans deserve it and our players deserve to play in front of a mainstream audience.

"I am obviously proud, but I am also proud for all our fans. I think we are offering them something great for them, for our players and for London. This is an iconic stadium.

"I think long term. It is very difficult to be at the top, but we are one of the biggest clubs in the world and we will continue to develop. We want to be there and we want to win. "

Despite Levy's lofty ambitions, Tottenham's new revolutionary stage comes with the club in the worst period since the takeover of Mauricio Pochettino.

They have taken just one point in their last five league games, which has put them in the top four – and Levy hopes the stadium will bring players to a solid finish.
