DIY SOS shows a heartbreaking moment, the grieving father thanks the team for building the family home

This is the heartbreaking moment that a devoted father leaves in his "emotional trauma" after the death of his wife, thanks the DIY team SOS for having built, as well as his sons, a new future.

Darren, a roofer from Hull, was seriously injured, leaving him in a wheelchair.

But the tragedy struck again when her "childhood love", Sarah, was found dead by her sons in the couple's common home with their children.

Darren, Harvey's father, Mike's father-in-law and Oliver's adoptive father, severely handicapped, was left "physically unable to cope" with his wife's death in a house "unmanaged for his situation".

With his sons, he will appear in the Wednesday evening DIY SOS episode on BBC One as the team transforms his home.

"Darren had a backache for years, then one day he was caught in the theater by equina caude syndrome – a devastating injury to the spinal cord," according to a description of the episode published on the BBC website.

"Darren was paralyzed from the waist and unable to walk.

After three months of rehab, he returned home in a wheelchair with his family.He was left in Oliver's basement room and slept in a separate hospital bed. from Sarah and struggling to get space.

"Then, a few weeks later, the day after Christmas, the tragedy struck again when Sarah died suddenly at home and was found upstairs by her boys.

"Since then, the boys and Darren have been emotionally traumatized, and his father, in a wheelchair, is now the main caregiver in the family, physically unable to cope with a house that has not been prepared for this situation. . "

The show will show how Nick Knowles and his SOS DIY team, along with hundreds of "nice" volunteers from the community, helped Darren help Darren last April.

We also see Darren thanking the team and the volunteers for giving the family their "next chapter".

He says, "" Incredible. What you did for us guys is our next chapter. This is the next step forward that is huge for us.

"The words do not even seem sufficient.I went there and I did not even recognize my house.In fact, this is not a house, you brought home for us.

"I can really go up and it may seem like nothing to you guys but to me that's all.You have given me the complete home where I have been down for so long.C & # 39; 39, is something we needed so much and could not have come at a better time.

"It's amazing, thank you very much."

Nick asks him, "And did the people here who built the house for you manage to combine a new beginning but with enough respect for the past?"

"We always have our memories, the memories are real, the memories will always be there," said Darren.

"She is always with us, she will always be here," says Darren.

"This is an eternal home for us, I will never change anything again here, thank you very much."

And it is clear that the story of Darren has touched the entire team.

Nick said, "Over the years, we have met a lot of families who are under tremendous stress because of the situation they are in.

"But I have rarely seen a family so hooked with fingertips, it seems, and they just need someone to lean over the parapet and pull it up.

"And it took so many people to do it, to create a space where they could be together and a space where they could, if they needed it, spend time alone, each other.

"A house where they could face a new chapter and begin to heal."

In another teaser of the Wednesday night show, featured in the video above, Nick explains how much the family needed to retire "from the chasm".

"Darren, a roofer and father of three, is used to hard knocks," says Nick.

"But this devoted father was broken when he also started using a wheelchair a year ago.

"Darren now cares for a severely disabled son in a house he can not move in. His other sons, Mike and Harvey, have taken over, but it's a struggling family.

"To get this family out of the abyss, we are going to need a monumental effort from an incredible group of traders."

We hear Darren talk about the difficulty of things.
