Girls kidnapped
The family of Ruth Love Quayson, one of three girls kidnapped by Takoradi, reacted angrily to the allegations of the Department of Criminal Investigations (CID) that he would have found the location of the abducted girls.
DCOP Maame Tiwaa Dankwa, head of the IDC, told reporters at a press conference that police were working to rescue girls and reunite them with their families.
But Ruth Love Quayson's family believes the public announcement is not necessary because it leaves them with no hope or conclusion.
"What they say that they found the children does not make sense to us." It's like they're playing with us. They play with our emotions, "said one family member.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has identified the location of the three kidnapped girls.
Ghana and security agencies in the United Kingdom and the United States are already working together to find abducted girls.
The main suspect, Sam Udoetuk Wills, who had broken into a cell after his first arrest, accused a police officer, Detective Ahmed Temeh, of helping him escape.
Sam Udoetuk Wills escaped from police custody on December 30, 2018, but was later arrested again in Nkroful.
He is being prosecuted for breaking prison, but has not yet divulged useful information that could lead to the rescue of the girls.
The girls who were kidnapped were identified as Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie.
They were reportedly abducted between August 2018 and January 2019.
The West Regional Police Command set up a committee to investigate the suspect's allegations that he was badisted by an IDC officer, but the committee did not still found a solution.
The families of the victims were outraged by claims that the police may have worked with the main suspect of the kidnapping.
The inhabitants of the metropolis expressed concern about the pace of investigations.
Some groups organized demonstrations and also petitioned the president and the regional coordination council of Sekondi.
In addition to the main suspect, other arrests occurred during investigations. But these arrests did not lead to any substantial track.
About eight people were arrested in the eastern part of the region following the kidnapping during a regional command rifle in the municipality of Lower Manya Krobo in the eastern region.
