CEO Elon Musk confirmed in a tweet that SpaceX had used its Starship rocket prototype Wednesday evening at the company's premises in South Texas.

Musk tweet: Starhopper has completed the jump. All green systems.

SpaceX is in the early stages of developing its Starship rocket. Starship, with a huge reminder called "Super Heavy", is being built to transport up to 100 people on the Moon, Mars and more.

Designed to be a fully reusable launch system, Starship's "Hopper" version is essential to prove the design and mechanics of a rocket that will open Musk's vision of transforming spaceflight into an airplane.

The company is also building a new generation of engines for the Starship spacecraft called Raptors. The Starship prototype has a Raptor, which is the second "ready to fly" version of the engine that SpaceX has tested.
