The Birim Central Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region is in desperate need of staff to strengthen its workforce and champion the achievement of its vision and mission.

Mr. Kwabena Boampong, Director General of the Common Assembly (MCE), announced yesterday at the 1st regular meeting of the 4th session of the Assembly in Akyem Oda.
According to him, the Assembly currently employs 313 people, including 230 men and 83 women, 199 of whom work on the payroll, while the remaining 39 are paid through the ILO's Internal Creation Fund. Assembly.
He stated: "In accordance with the local government staffing standards, the Assembly does not have the required minimum staffing levels in the Administration, Contracting, Executive, Internal Audit, Secretariat and other sensitive categories of the workforce ".
Mr. Boampong therefore appealed to the head of the local government department to speed up the process necessary to meet the challenge and enable the Assembly to function effectively.
Despite the lack of personnel to argue about its workforce, the MCE indicated that the Assembly was making progress in infrastructure development while major development projects were underway in the municipality.
He mentioned some ongoing projects such as the construction of eleven Clean Ghana Sanitation type B B-type toilet facilities with 20 seats in various communities, the Bonka Adjei storm drains and the Oda-Aboabo diversion, among others.
Reacting to a comment by a member of the Assembly, the MP for Akyem Oda, Mr. William Agyapong Quaittoo, revealed that next week the Minister of Roads and Road will officially open the ongoing construction of the road to Oda-Aboabo. vehicle movement pbad and close the Kasawere River bridge to allow the contractor to perform the repair work.
