A girl can not have her free french fries in Monopoly McDonald's because of her fine print

An 11-year-old girl does not have the right to claim "free fries" at McDonald's because of her age.

Mom Lynsey Mead said her daughter Amber was upset when she was allowed to buy an adult meal, but the staff refused to let her swap her promotional sticker winner.

McDonald's employees have stated that they could turn it down because she's under 16, reports Hull Live.

Lynsey of Willerby, a mom, asked McDonald's to give unbranded packaging to kids who buy food to stop promoting the game.

She says that leaves kids disappointed when they win but can not claim the prizes.

"Ultimately, it's a game, but it's a game that encourages young kids to play," Lynsey said.

"My problem is mainly that you would not sell a lottery ticket to a child and then a scratch card, but you could not scratch or claim it."

Lynsey had allowed the schoolgirl to go with her friend to McDonald's Willerby branch in the mall on the weekends.

The two men had bought their meals with their own pocket money and Amber's friend had taken off an "instant medium gain fries".

However, when Amber approached the counter to cash the Monopoly token, she was told that she could not feed herself for free because she was not old enough.

"If I had been with her, I'm sure it would be fine, but McDonald's should stop this promotion," said the mom of two.

"It would probably be better if McDonald's forbade him to go inside, but all kids love to get the stickers, is not it.

"But, on a more serious note, I just think that this promotion with McDonald's stickers is promoting the game and the bad diet.

"Big meals have more stickers, so why would not they want an adult meal or a bigger meal to get more?"

McDonald's says that the rules relating to its popular promotion are clear – and that is why Happy Meals does not include a sticker on the packaging.

However, Lynsey says children in Amber's age group want more than just a happy meal because they do not "fill enough."

A spokeswoman for McDonald's said: "In accordance with current advertising regulations, our Monopoly promotion is not suitable for under 16s.

"To avoid unnecessary disappointment due to this age limit for promotion, this is clearly stated in all promotional advertising, packaging and on our McDonald's Monopoly website."

Monopoly promotion prices range from £ 100,000 to first prize, as well as cars, expensive technology, vacations and free food vouchers.
