24-year-old man in police custody for entering a bank in Sunyani

Enoch Aboagye, an unemployed 24-year-old, is in the hands of police for allegedly entering the building housing the main branch of GCB Bank in Sunyani to steal 40,000 GH ¢.

The suspect entered the building by the ceiling around 1:40 pm last Tuesday and made with the money.

However, he was approached by a security officer, Mr. Moses Adjei, who saw him trying to jump from the ceiling of the ATM room of the bank.

The suspect allegedly stole money from the ATM because there was no activity in the lobby of the bank, which is being renovated.

Chief Inspector Augustine Kinsley Oppong, public relations officer for Bono East Regional Police and Ahafo Regional Police, said the director of the bank's branch, Mr. Ibrahim Seidu, had reported the incident to his team.

He added that during the suspect's search, the 00040,000 suspected of being stolen from the bank was found.

According to him, the suspect might have had access to the bank through the cell because the facility was being renovated, after which the bank had transferred its operations to a temporary structure.

Mr. Oppong said that the suspect, who was in custody, participated in the investigations.
