MacKenzie Bezos announced on Twitter Thursday that she and her ex-husband Jeff Bezos had completed the process of dissolving their marriage, leaving him $ 35.6 billion worth of Amazon shares.
In a separate statement, Jeff expressed his gratitude to MacKenzie on Twitter.
"I am grateful for his support and kindness in this process and I am very excited about our new relationship as friends and co-parents," Jeff said.
This announcement clarifies some of the concerns of investors in the days following the couple's announcement of their intent to divorce in order to determine who would have the right to vote at Amazon. According to the divorce law experts, the split of the Bezos was a rather unprecedented situation, since the two were together when Amazon started and they did not have such a sum of money. While other founders and CEOs divorced at the helm of a company, most had met their spouse after acquiring their fortune.
