Prosecutors on Thursday filed charges of murder and attempted murder against Eric Holder, accused of the murder of rapper South L.A., Nipsey Hussle.
The holder is held on bail of $ 5 million. He appeared Thursday afternoon in an audience room in downtown Los Angeles, where he was represented by his lawyer, Chris Darden. Darden pleaded not guilty on his behalf, according to a report by KNX journalist Claudia Peschiutta.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged the accused with four counts, including one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Two men were also injured in the shootout in front of Marathon Clothing on Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. In the criminal complaint, the two victims are identified as Kerry Lathan and Shermi Cervabta Villanueva.
Holder, 29, also faces a charge of being a criminal in possession of a firearm. He risks being jailed for life if he is convicted.
In 2012, Holder did not dispute the fact of carrying a loaded weapon in a public place. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and three years in probation.
LAPD police chief Michel Moore said Tuesday that Holder and Holder had had a fight at the clothing store. Holder left and returned with a gun, firing several times at Hussle before escaping into a white Chevrolet Cruze. Although the two men belonged to a gang, the reason for the shooting does not seem to be linked to a gang.
Holder was arrested Wednesday at Bellflower by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and handed over to Los Angeles police.
