This follows an opinion from the power generation company GRIDCO that it has enough energy for distribution.
William Boateng, PDS Public Relations Officer (PDS), formerly known as the Ghana Electricity Corporation (ECG), confirmed it to PeaceFM News during the bulletin of the station of 18h.
"Table of load shed times"
On Friday morning, the PDS issued a schedule for its electricity rationing across most of the country, citing a lack of electricity supply.
Eight regions were to be affected from 6 am to 6 pm by the first official offloading table. This meeting followed a meeting between the Volta River Authority (VRA), the PURC and the PDS.
This has been necessitated by the inexplicable and unannounced intermittent power outages of the public, as well as repeated calls for everyone to know when they will have power.
"Within 12 days"
Prior to that, the Ministry of Energy had badured Ghanaians Monday that in 12 days, electricity would be restored throughout the country.
The deputy energy minister in charge of energy, Mr. William Owireku Aidoo, said at a press conference held on Monday, April 1, 2019, that blackouts are likely to occur. Recent electricity would end within ten to twelve days.
"Absolute Balderdash"
He described as "absolute balderdash" the claims of some people that Ghana suffered intermittent power cuts due to an energy sector in financial difficulty.
"We have enough fuel, unlike [to claims] that the government does not have money and that we do not manage the energy sector well, it's an absolute madness …In a nutshell, all I'm trying to say is that we have taken the necessary steps to minimize disruptions of power in the country, "said Mr. Aidoo.
apology
The deputy minister also apologized to the Ghanaian people for the breakdowns.
"All I will say now on behalf of the Hon. Minister, of course, the president has to apologize to the people of Ghana and make sure we do everything in our power to restore the electricity supply. "
For the moment, it is not known how GRIDCO managed to generate energy during this short distribution period by the PDS for the suspension of the planned load shedding schedule.
