The government introduced a new measure prohibiting all public officials from using their private e-mails to perform official tasks.
Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful told the media Friday at Lansdown Hotel Aburi at the opening session of the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group for 2019.
She added that the Cabinet had approved the migration of all officials to the .gov.gh domain, which is the official domain name of the Government of Ghana.
According to her, the state understood that the use of private emails, such as Yahoo and Gmail, does not create the impression of seriousness in the performance of the obligations of l & # 39; State.
The minister also said that the use of private e-mails on all of the country's critical cybercrime resources underscored the need to protect the ecosystem of public information.
She said workers in some departments and ministries, including the Ministry of Communications, have already started using public e-mail.
At the end of 2019, she warned that sanctions would be applied to officials who use private e-mails to perform national tasks, noting that the use of private e-mails for official purposes was unacceptable.
Representatives of major public institutions such as the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Office of Economic and Organized Crime (EOCO), the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the National Communications Authority (NCA), Defense Intelligence (DI), among others, participate in retirement.
