Sky presenter Kelly Cates insisted that Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher seemed to have left her in a quandary as they presented their Premier League game between Liverpool and Southampton last night.

Cates interviewed the broadcaster's football experts on the sideline at St Mary's before a game that would have consequences at both ends of the table.

Cates, daughter of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, questioned the duo about the impact Ralph Hasenhuttl had had on the south coast since his replacement of Mark Hughes in December.

The German had organized three victories in four games, which would probably have guaranteed the Saints' best flight status for another season.

Rather than answering his question directly, Carragher and Neville turned and headed immediately to the tunnel, where Hasenhuttl was waiting for them, leaving Cates alone.

Confused Twitter viewers asked for clarification, which Cates was happy to provide, saying: "They were going to question Hasenhuttl in the tunnel! I would have looked weird if they had nothing to say. [sic] the path. "

Nah. Hum @ KellyCates – we need an explanation ? I'm puzzled. Was it live? Were they out of reach? Producers, directors … what happened here? ?

Liverpool then returned to the top of the table, recovering from the quick shot of conceding Shane Long's first goal in the 9th minute.

Naby Keita equalized 10 minutes from the break with that first goal for the club since his summer transfer from RB Leipzig, but the Reds have left late to score three points.

Mohamed Salah ended his recent drought by scoring his 50th Premier League goal for Liverpool 10 minutes before the break, before the substitute and captain of the club sealed their victory, six minutes later.
