Miss Ohemaa Akua Achiaa Agyekum, a final year student in public health from the Catholic University College of Ghana (CUCG), was crowned "Miss Health Ghana 2019".

She emerged as a winner among the top 10 candidates following the inaugural "Miss Health Ghana" competition organized by the National Association of Health Students of Ghana (NAHSAG).

The aim was to identify competent and skilled medical students and graduates as ambbadadors to advocate for every Ghanaian to contribute to the promotion of a healthy quality of life and well-being in the country.

This was brought to light when Miss Agyekum handed over her crown to Professor Daniel Obeng-Ofori, Vice Chancellor of the University.

Professor Obeng-Ofori stated that CUCG was recognized for its academic excellence as well as for its ethical and moral values, which were essential ingredients of human development.

He said that it was no wonder that Ms. Agyekum had achieved this feat, adding that it had heightened the image of the university, and urged her to use this success to positively influence society.

The VC stated that the institution won the prize for all the competitions in which it participated, including those organized by the Association of Private University Students of Ghana (PUSAG) and Entrepreneurial Action in Us (ENACTUS), which he described as something unique about the University. its academic excellence.

"ENACTUS is an international organization that connects students, academics, and business leaders through enterprise-based projects that enable people to turn opportunities into progress." real and sustainable for themselves and their communities.

Hammond Oppong Kwarteng, a deputy registrar and head of the University's Relations Unit, said the CUCG had achieved impressive results among other institutions of higher education in terms of curricular and extracurricular activities.

"The students have been excellent and this is due to the high level of discipline, the strong sense of morality and the hard work of the University," he said.

Mr Kwarteng said that the University was the 2018 winner of the Duapa Challenge Competition organized by the British Council, ENACTUS '2012-2013 national champion and also had won six gold medals in athletics and in athletics. football at the 2018 PUSAG Games, among others.

Earlier in an interview, Ms. Agyekum called the contest a very important one for promoting good health in the country but also a very keen and challenging challenge, as she met extremely bright and intelligent participants.

She added that despite everything, she had won the title of laureate because of the global professional values ​​and the quality university education on which the University had exerted influence.
