Avengers: war in the infinite has featured many characters from previous films, but was missing a major actor: Clint "Hawkeye" Barton. In comics and on screen, Hawkeye has had a unique path as a character, and luckily we will see at least some of it in Avengers: End of the game. This is the sad reason why we think he joins his old friends.
Hawkeye 'has retired' Avengers: the era of Ultron
Unlike many other characters, Hawkeye never gets his own movie. We learn from him first in The Avengers, in which he is an agent of SHIELD, owned by the power of Tesseract, before joining Tony, Steve and the rest of the gang, making it one of the first Avengers.
He returns in Age of Ultronbut the public soon learns a secret: unlike the rest of his cohorts, Barton has a family. At the end of the film, he retires to stay safe and spend more time with his wife and children.
He was not present for any of the War of Infinity
Clint is briefly out of retirement to fight Steve's side against the Sokovy chords in Captain America: Civil War. With Scott Lang (Ant-Man), he is captured and placed in Raft Prison, where he stays until they reach an agreement. Clint and Scott chose to remain under house arrest for two years to stay with their families.
Given the schedule, Hawkeye would have completed his house arrest during Avengers: war in the infinite. Would he come to the rescue of his friends when he could? It's hard to say, but the Russo brothers said they had a very good reason to keep it out of the action. War of Infinity.
That's why we think Clint's family died in the decimation zone.
OK, now things are about to get a little dark. As we have seen, everyone loses someone – a close friend, a loved one, everyone wants it – when Thanos snaps fingers and wipes out half of all living creatures (now called Decimation) . There is very little chance that all the Bartons have managed to get out alive – but it could be even worse than that.
In this photo of the official trailer of March 14, 2019, we see Clint, in a field, helping a teenager shoot an arrow at a target. He smiles at her then and gives him a smile. Many badumed that it was about his daughter and that it was his loss, as well as one or two other members of his family, who urged him to act.
Who is Ronin?
If we know anything about Hawkeye, he's a shooter and we always see him with his bow and arrows. But in the first glimpse of him in the trailer, he's holding a sword. This, along with his hooded suit, led fans to believe that he had taken the pseudonym of Ronin when we meet him at End of Game.
The name Ronin comes from the Japanese word, which refers to a solitary warrior or a samurai. In comics, Clint badumes this identity after the events of Civil war. There will surely be an interesting story about how he adopted this nickname and why he exchanged his weapon of choice.
The role he will play in End of Game
Fortunately, from the first trailer, we know that Clint will be involved in End of Game. In the following trailers, we saw Clint at the Avengers' headquarters. It is therefore clear that he joins the team one way or another.
Here is a possibility: Natasha, his good friend, looking for him the day after the decimation. She discovers that he became a thug, so to speak, after the disappearance of his family and, as an independent fighter, he devoted all his energy to fighting the criminals of Thanos, which can be seen in the 3D trailer. It may be necessary to convince, but eventually Clint will join the Avengers, but with a slightly different attitude, look and fighting style. Maybe his new vision of the situation will help them in the battle against Thanos.
