Asante Kotoko will play Techiman Eleven Wonders on a potato park
At a time when Ghanaian football should undergo a normalization process, Asante Kotoko will play on Techiman Eleven Wonders on what appears as a potato field on Day 3 of the NC Special Competition.
The semi-grbaded Nkoranza site will host Ghanian giants, invited by the Techiman team, who have been forced to relocate due to ongoing renovations of Nana Ameyaw Park at Techiman.
According to reports, Techiman Eleven Wonders is in the process of renovating its land at Nana Ameyaw Park, forcing them to move their home games to the depleted Nkoranza Park.
The embarrbading state of the pitch quickly made headlines when local team captain Abdul Wahab complained bitterly of the pitch and its effects on the match.
According to the striker, the pitch is not good enough to host a Premier League game and this will reduce the quality of the match on Sunday, by hosting the Porcupine Warriors.
"Our match with Kotoko will be like a Division One match because of the pitch.
"The pitch at Nkoranza Park is not good for a Premier League team," complained Abdul Wahab in an interview with Silver FM Sports on Saturday.
Despite the local skipper's enthusiastic plea, the Ghana Federation's Standardization Committee has already approved the semi-featureless terrain steeped in countless potholes to host Premier League football.
The shocking state of affairs has sparked controversy in the media, raising real concerns about what the committee is actually doing to normalize the Ghanaian game.
With the mandate to normalize Ghanaian football, it was less predictable that such a potato playground would be allowed to host a Premier League football team in Ghana.
Strangely enough, Nkoranza Park has not even hosted Division One League matches for so many years and even less football in the Premier League.
It is still shocking to know why the standardization committee has approved the presentation of a pitch in this state to host elite football games.
As Asante Kotoko look to record her first away win in the competition, the home team is about to win her first home win.
But this remains a huge doubt because the quality of the game is facing a huge threat, the two teams seem very unhappy with the current state of the field.
