The National Executive Committee of the National Democratic National Congress, an opposition party, has been badisting displaced people in the Nakapanzo community in Savelugu Municipality, Northern Region.
Friday night, a violent storm swept the farming community, injuring three people and devastating the properties of hundreds of residents of the region.
Many displaced people are struggling to find temporary housing and are seeking government badistance.
More than 50 households were affected by the incident. A member of the Assembly of the region, Mohammed Baba, is also a victim, told Joy News, they are in dire need of support. "Some houses left with one room and about 30 to 40 people occupying a room," said Mohammed Baba.
"Fortunately because it's too hot, everyone sleeps outside at night, but everyone cries when the rain threatens to not know where to sleep," he added.
The NDC Northern Regional Chair, who led a team of members of his regional executive committee in the community, presented 10 bags of maize and 10 pockets of cover sheets to the displaced.
