Xhaka, Mavropanos, Koscielny – Latest news regarding injury to Arsenal and dates back after Everton's defeat

[ad_1]

After the defeat at Everton on Sunday, Arsenal supporters hope that Laurent Koscielny will be back as soon as possible.

The Frenchman has been absent since the Europa League victory over Rennes in mid-March. The Gunners missed it on Sunday after losing 1-0 at Goodison Park.

With Sokratis recording his tenth season and a two-game ban, the Gunners will be out of defense in the coming weeks.

Unai Emery hopes the central defender will come back for the Napoli match in the Champions League, but nothing guarantees for the moment.

The 33-year-old is in the same boat as Granit Xhaka, for whom the Naples clash could also happen too soon.

Emery said, "I do not know, we were waiting to see if Laurent could play today, but yesterday morning we knew it was not possible, I want to be positive for Thursday, it depends on its state of progress.

"Xhaka, it's the same, they'll have doubts for Thursday, but we have players and we can take the performance with all the players."

Aaron Ramsey was not fit enough to start against Everton on Sunday, but he stepped off the bench and did not seem to be suffering from another adverse effect and should be good for Thursday.

Konstantinos Mavropanos have only been touched once this season – in a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City. The Greek defender played in the second half of the Arsenal friendly in Dubai against Al Nasr, however, and he tweeted that he was "on track" thereafter.

Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck are still recovering from the long-term injuries they suffered earlier in the season.
