– MUSIGA to get a new national headquarters of President Akufo-Addo
– The President has promised the building of the big MUSIGA Ball in Accra
Ghana's President, Nana Akufo-Addo, is committed to creating a new national headquarters for the Ghana Union of Musicians (MUSIGA) by the end of the year.
According to Akufo-Addo, the current MUSIGA building will be affected by the ongoing Marine Drive project.
"It was brought to my attention by Obour [MUSIGA President] that the implementation of the Marine Drive project will affect the building that serves as headquarters to MUSIGA," he said.

"I have instructed the Minister of Public Works and Housing to meet the union leaders and to choose an appropriate replacement by the end of the year 2019," he added.
He made the announcement at the 6th MUSIGA Grand Presidential Ball held at the International Conference Center in Accra on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
MUSIGA President Bice Osei Kuffour, aka Obour, also pleaded with the Ghanaian group to support the union in its efforts to improve the lives of aging musicians in the country.
Obour also asked President Akufo-Addo to ensure that his government introduces music education at the grbadroots level because of its potential for improving musicality in Ghana.

MUSIGA paid tribute to some of the industry's heroes and pillars of the music industry.
The heroes were teachers Kofi Abraham, Pat Thomas, Naa Amanua, Asabea Cropper, Kwadwo Akwaboah and Abirekyireba Kofi Sammy.
The pillars of the music industry are Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, Vodafone, 4Syte TV and Kwame Sefa Kayi. The Distinguished Personality Award went to Ransford Antwi, founder of Space FM and Sun City Radio.
