Jenny, co-host of Partridge, could have spin-offs
The writers of This time with Alan Partridge have talked about what the future might hold for the show, revealing that "the door is not closed" on the show – and that there is room for editing on one of the characters.
The latest TV series of Norfolk's fictional TV star saw him return to the BBC, presenting a The One Showstyle magazine program. While Partridge is expected to return to a new series of historical documentaries about Great Britain inspired by Simon Schama, writers Rob and Neil Gibbons have talked about what might still come from the This time format.
"We put it in a drawer for the moment," they told Digital Spy. "We never intended to be part of the series, with a huge disaster at the end, it's too much like what happened with Alan, so the door is not closed."
However, they said there was potential for spin-offs based on Jennie Gresham, co-host of This Time from Partridge (played by Susannah Fielding), adding that there was "a lot of mileage" in the character.
"We did not want her to be just the voice of reason that would not melt the voice, the one with which the audience aligns. It's boring, said the Gibbons.
"So, during the first episode, we asked him" accidentally "to steal Alan's joke and use it himself on the air. The uncertainty that created Alan – was it really an accident or was she bading me? – immediately put more interesting flesh on the bone and from there, we wanted his motives are not clear. "
As for the next Partridge series, Rob and Neil Gibbons will once again lead the writing tasks and share them with Coogan. The show is tentatively titled And those feet, with Alan Partridge. Production of the BBC One show began and filming is scheduled to begin in May.
The Coogan production company, Baby Cow, is also accompanied by Dave Lambert, Partridge documentary production manager, Island in scissors and Welcome to the places of my life.
