The newly created Savannah region is expected to establish a police training school in Busunu, a suburb of Damongo, capital of the Savannah region.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, during a working visit to the region, revealed that the President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, had become acquainted with attention of recent criminal cases in the region and was sad about the situation.

In a speech to Yagbonwura and his elders at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo, he said part of his visit was to inspect the land allocated to the Ghana police for the purpose of setting up a training school. of the police and observe the flash. crimes in the region for appropriate action to be taken.

According to him, the hitherto vast nature of the northern region made the work of the police very tedious and hindered their smooth and efficient operations.

He said he was optimistic that with the help of young people, the crime rate in the region and the district would be reduced to the bare minimum and the law and order maintained for growth and sustained development of the new region.

He added that his ongoing travels across the country and his interactions with the public would give him an opportunity to gather first-hand information on the crime rate and suggest solutions, if any.

He congratulated Yagbonwura and his elders for achieving the status of Savannah region region, adding that Ghana's police were proud to badociate with the newly carved Savannah area.

The Yagbonwura in turn congratulated the Inspector General of Police for taking the time to visit the new region.

He launched a pbadionate appeal to the IGP to provide police services in the region with the necessary mechanisms to enable them to fight crime and maintain law and order.

The IGP was in the company of the Director General of Ghana Police Service Operations, DCOP, Simon Afeku, other police commissioners, the Northeast Police Commander, DCOP / Mr. Timothy Yoosa Bonga; the District Director of West Gonja, the Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibreal and other senior officials of the Ghana Police Service.
