An Accra circuit court on Tuesday sentenced Ella Peters, a 29-year-old Nigerian hairdresser, who has transferred two girls to Ghana to prostitute them to seven years in jail.

Ella, charged with trafficking in human beings, pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Rita Abrokwah Doko found her guilty but postponed her sentence until 9 April.

The court ordered the destruction of condoms and underwear, among other things, that the police had recovered from the convict in the presence of the clerk of the court.

Earlier, the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Grace Bandoh had stated that on June 22, Adenta police had gathered information that Ella had recruited and transported Nigerian women to Ghana. for badual exploitation.

According to Chief Inspector Bandoh, a team from the Adenta Police Command embarked on an operation and rescued a 16-year-old native of River State, Abarikpo. , and a 17 – year – old native of Owere, in the state of Imo.

The prosecution said that Ella had also been arrested and during investigations, it appeared that she had recruited the victims last May in Ghana to come to work in her shop and her sewing workshop.

However, the prosecution said that when they arrived in Accra, Ella delivered them to prostitution and forced them to make daily sales of 150.00 GHC each.

She added that new investigations had revealed that Ella had used a blade to inflict marks on the victims' faces and had used their blood for ritual purposes to scare them from failing to pay their daily sales. .

The prosecutor said that the 16-year-old had not managed to get her daily sales and Ella had tortured her with a hot knife leaving marks and burns on both her shoulders and right ankle before the saving.
