At least 20 people were killed when two villages were attacked in the state of Kaduna, in northwestern Nigeria.

A local local government official in Kajuru told the BBC that after Monday's attacks, people were still looking for other victims in the bushes outside the villages.

Eyewitnesses suspect the Fulani shepherds to be at the root of the violence, the latest in a series of revenge attacks between breeders and farmers.

Insecurity has increased in other areas of the state of Kaduna and in the neighboring state of Zamfara, where police suspect the existence of "police station". a link between armed bandits and small gold mines.

They have now banned any mining activity.

The army and police said they launched the Puff Adder operation to end the attacks and arrest the culprits.
