Each of the 16 regions is expected to benefit from the Sinohydro Arrangement, with hospital projects, extension of electricity in rural communities and construction of courts and residential buildings for the Judiciary, landfills and industrial parks.
Phase 1 projects, approved by Parliament, are:
- Lot 1 – Construction of roads in downtown Accra. A total of 84 kilometers of roads in Trobu, Anyaa-Sowutum, Dome-Kwabenya, Adenta and Teshie will be built;
- Lot 2 – Construction of Kumasi and Mampong Inner City roads. A total of 100 kilometers of downtown roads will be built in Kumasi and Mampong. In Kumasi, the relevant road networks are in Manhyia, Suame, Tafo Pankrono, Asokwa, Kwadaso, Oforikrom, Subin, Nhyiaeso and Bantama;
- Lot 3 – construction of the Tamale Interchange;
- Lot 4 – Construction of the PTC roundabout interchange at Sekondi-Takoradi, the first interchange located in the west of the country;
- Lot 5 – Dualization of the Adenta-Dodowa road. 14 kilometers of the Adenta-Dodowa road will be doubled to reduce traffic jams, improve road safety and reduce travel times on the corridor;
- Lot 6 – Construction of Sunyani Inner City and Berekum Township Roads. A total of 39 kilometers of roads will be built in Sunyani and Berekum townships. In Sunyani, 29 km of downtown roads will be built, while the township of Berekum will build 10 km;
- Lot 7 – Construction of Prestea Township Roads and Cape Coast Town Center. A total of 32 kilometers of roads will be built at Cape Coast and Prestea. In Cape Coast, 22 km of downtown roads will be built, while the County of Prestea will build 10 km.
- Lot 8 – Modernization of certain feeder roads in the Ashanti and West regions. Sixty-eight kilometers of feeder roads in the Ashanti and North-West regions will be rehabilitated. Roads that will be rehabilitated are mainly in communities with bauxite deposits;
- Lot 9 – Rehabilitation of the Akim Oda-Ofoase road. This lot includes the rehabilitation of the 38 km Akim Oda-Ofoase Road, which is part of the main IR3 road network and runs through several rural communities that connect Akim Oda to Ofoase;
- Lot 10 – Construction of the Hohoe-Jasikan-Dodo Pepesu Road of the East Corridor. This will involve the construction of the 66 km section of the eastern corridor road between Hohoe in Jasikan and Dodo Pepesu;
The projects, explained President Akufo-Addo, must be implemented on the basis of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and will be completed within 30 months of the start of the works.
"The government also ensures that, under the Local Content Law, at least 30 percent of the work is done by Ghanaian contractors and overseen by Ghanaian consultants.
