He stated that this would allow effective processing of cases in the courts.
Judge Tutu stated that sometimes documents relating to scheduled cases were missing, delaying the courts' handling of cases.
He added that as part of the digital case system, defendants and plaintiffs who could not go to court could be heard via Skype or video calls.
Judge Tutu explained that complainants could file their case on their website – 'ejustice.jsg.gov.gh' – or apply to a court with their valid ID card and that the agents help.
He also badured Ghanaians of the security of their cases and said the system could not be hacked.
Susanna Nyampong, a representative of the Ghana Bar Association and a member of the executive committee of online justice, added that the introduction of the paperless system would help clients get updates on their cases.
She said the system had been automated for sending text messages in order to update clients on their cases.
Ms. Nyampong stated that the duplication of trial numbers, handwritten and manually created files, manual payments and trial receipts, which could lead to fraudulent activities, delays in court processes, among other difficult factors, would be now in the past.
With the introduction of the online justice system, there would be an electronic platform for filing, service, cost badessment, automated badignment of cases to courts, management of the Judges calendar and the execution of court decisions for all cases, cases and cases filed in court registries.
Judge Tutu urged Ghanaians to accept the new system in good faith because the manual system is tiring and represents a waste of time and money.
