"I am inclined to believe the policeman (CID)"Says the editor-in-chief of New crusade guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr.

He reacted following a meeting between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to discuss for the first time how to end the chancre of militancy.

After the meeting, the NDC reprimanded the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for disrupting the meeting.

According to them, the CID telephoned the party's national president, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, to invite him to the police headquarters, as new charges were brought against him.

However, in an interview with Kwami Sefa-Kayi, the CID denied calling Mr. Ofosu Ampofo.

"This is never true that we have called Ofosu-Ampofo to come. . . we informed his lawyers that we needed him on Monday. We were waiting for them on Monday. I have never called any of them; I have never spoken to anyone. So, it is never true that he was invited in the middle of the meeting. Moreover, I was not aware of the meeting until his lawyers told me so. . . so I agreed that they come next,Chief Superintendent Appenteng Baffour, Deputy Director of Operations, CID, said.

During a round table on Wednesday's edition of "Kokrokoo", Kweku Baako asked those who questioned to interrogate the newspaper.

"He stated that he did not call anyone at Ofosu-Ampofo during the meeting. . . it seems to me more credible. But if it becomes controversial, the phone logs are there. . . so I think it's a storm in a cup of tea; we should not allow this to distort or undermine the process,He asked.
