The fact that the GMC appealed the verdict of the medical court service (created in 2012 to separate the disciplinary measures from the investigative power of the GMC) was deemed unnecessary given the findings of the internal investigation of the GMC. the hospital, which documented many problems with the system on the day in question. We considered that the fact that the MPTS suspends the doctor for one year and the erasure is excessively hard, wastes a good doctor who has recognized his mistake and learned from it.
The GMC now has only 11 appointed members, including five physicians. Ordinary physicians believe that the statement that the Merrison Committee recommended in 1975 (which led to such a large council) was lost and the GMC was disconnected. I think it's time to look at the composition of the GMC so that it reflects the experience of doctors working in the UK in the 21st century.
