The editor of the newspaper New Crusading Guide has described as premature the envelope of the new bill on the public university.

Kweku Baako said that it was necessary for one of them to take the time to read the written document before drawing any conclusions.

"It is too early, the truth is that there is too much premature ejaculation, there is no need to worry" he said.

The minority in Parliament asked speakers from various public universities to oppose the bill on public universities aimed at spreading their autonomy.

According to the minority, the bill on public universities is an attempt to kill academic freedom in the various public universities.

Some of the proposals contained in the bill grant; a) the power of the president to dissolve the university council; (b) Allow the university council to appoint a chancellor; and (c) Allow unions to appoint only one representative per rotation to sit on the board at each cycle.

The minority called the proposals worrying.

According to them, the bill, which is yet to be tabled in Parliament, has serious consequences for the academic freedom and autonomy of universities.
