Johnny Depp's ex-wife asks the judge to file a lawsuit

FAIRFAX, Va. – Actress Amber Heard on Thursday urged a judge to dismiss a $ 50 million defamation suit her ex-husband Johnny Depp had filed about an editorial on domestic violence that was being carried out. She had written in the Washington Post.

In the motion filed at the Fairfax Circuit Court, Virginia, Heard reiterates her allegations that Depp ill-treated her before and during their marriage and includes exhibits such as photos of her with bruises at home. Depp's face and scars on the arms made at home, screenshots of SMS describing the incidents at the time, and excerpts from her divorce statement describing domestic violence.

"Johnny Depp physically and verbally abused Amber Heard," said his lawyer, Eric George, in a statement. "Since their divorce, Mr. Depp has continued to publicly harbad Mrs. Heard and has tried to clear the world by denying her abuses.It's time to end Mr. Depp's despicable conduct."

Depp's lawsuit, filed last month, called domestic violence allegations "categorically and patently false".

"They were part of a hoax developed to generate positive publicity for Mrs. Heard and advance her career," says the lawsuit, claiming that "it is she who is the author".

Depp's lawyer, Adam Waldman, said he was reviewing the new file. He said previously that he and Depp were eager to provide evidence that would erase Depp's name.

The Heard article, published in December, does not mention Depp, nor his name, nor any incident, but he discusses the fate of the society of those who talk about domestic violence.

"I stood up against badual violence – and I faced the anger of our culture," wrote the 32-year-old actress, adding that she had the impression to be "judged by the court of public opinion".

But Depp's lawsuit says it was clear that Heard was talking about him and that it aggravated the damage that the allegations had already caused to his career.

The lawsuit states that 55-year-old Depp suffered financial losses as a result of the charges, including the abandonment of his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.

Heard's lawyers also argued that the trial was to be transferred to Los Angeles because that was where the relevant events took place.

Heard the first accused Depp of domestic violence in May 2016, the year after their marriage. They divorced in 2017.

The actress, whose credits include "Aquaman" and "Justice League," met Depp on the set of their 2011 film "The Rum Diary."
