The UK competition watchdog concerned about the impact of the Mitie-Rentokil deal

(Reuters) – The UK's supervisory board warned on Friday that the buy-out by Mitokil Initial's Mitie Pest Control Unit could narrow the selection and push up prices for customers.

"After examining a wide range of evidence, the CMA found that there could be a substantial reduction in competition, which could lead to higher prices or lower quality for customers" , said the Authority of Competition and Markets (CMA) in a statement.

The CMA has stated that the agreement could result in a substantial reduction of competition and has asked Rentokil, a UK pest control and business services company, to submit proposals to address these concerns by April 23 or to be thoroughly investigated.

Last year, Mitie sold the company to Rentokil for 40 million pounds.
