Harry Kane, the Tottenham striker and England, may need to consider ankle surgery, a surgeon said.

Kane suffered a major ligament injury to his left ankle in the Spurs' 1-0 win in the Champions League on Manchester City and, although the club has not yet set a timeline for his return, he does not is not likely to play again this season.

The skipper of Three Lions is likely to injure his ankle ligaments as it is his fifth injury of this type since 2016 and the second left joint this year.

Surgeon Mark Davies, a leading London Foot and Ankle Center operative who has operated Premier League footballers, says pbading under the knife could help restore the strength of Kane's ligament as it was before his first injury.

"At some point, I think they would think of doing something surgically to stabilize the ligament, which is quite feasible and should restore the problem in the long run," Davies told the Press. Sport Association.

"I would certainly talk to him about the benefits of surgery.

"If he did not play football and he did not play, I would not do anything, but every time you turn your ankle, you run the risk of hurting your side ligaments." .

"He's not that old, he could do with a stable ankle if he wants to keep playing long-term without it happening again.

"It's a routine operation because the ligament needs to be tightened and it's pretty easy.

"If he had to undergo surgery, the surgeon would almost certainly use an internal corset, which is a device that you put in place to repair the ligament and that is incredibly resistant.

"This means that you do not rely solely on scar tissue to regain strength, so it increases your chances of coming back.

"No one is immune to a sprained ankle, you can have the strongest ligament in the world and if you submit it to sufficient strength, the sprain would be but you should restore it to stability levels before the injury. "

The operation would put Kane out of action for about three months, which might not be much longer than expected.

The English striker, however, has impressive recovery capabilities, while he returned to the game two weeks earlier than planned earlier this year and is aiming for a return to form for a possible final of the Champions League and semi-final of the UEFA League of Nations in June.

Davies, who has already operated Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea players, said Kane's fast payback rates had not made her more vulnerable, nor was the full schedule that had barely seen her to rest during the last summers.

"There is no merit to prolonged rest, they do not send it back too early, it's just that he has an unstable ankle," Davies added.

"When you suffer from this injury, the ligament is not as strong, so the more the gluteus ignites, the more it happens frequently.

"They get it back very quickly, but they would not send it back if it was not ready."
