GES announced on Thursday the introduction of the new school uniform for JHS students
Alexander Danso, National President of the Parent Teacher Association, said that it was not consulted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) before the introduction of the new uniform for junior high school students .
Speaking Friday in Eyewitness News, he said it was unfair that GES dismissed such an important player in the education sector.
"It's up to the GES to invite all the stakeholders, especially the main stakeholders who are the parents. We have not been consulted, we are not invited. The child is based on three pillars: the government, the teacher and the parents; it is clear that we can not think and act alone. It must be done by a collective effort of three stakeholders. They [GES] There is no need to relegate parents to the background because parents do not know anything about education, "he said.
He urged the government to make a conscious effort next time to include parents in such an important decision-making process.
"That there is an oversight or forgetfulness, no matter what it is, we say that next time, the parent should not be forgotten" , did he declare.

Students should start wearing the new school uniform from the next school year in September 2019.
An educator, Annis Hafar supported the decision of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to introduce a new school uniform for junior high school students in the country.
According to him, the introduction of the uniform shows that GES is paying attention to JHS students.
"Bringing something new never hurts, we live in a very dynamic world, we do not want things to be so static. We want kids to know it's a new day, new expectations are coming in, and there's nothing wrong with changing uniforms as long as there's enough clothing to wear. Psychology is important in the sense that they would be aware[Junior High School (JHS) students]. Being hygienic is part of a school system that supports student psychology, "he said.
However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, former Deputy Minister of Communications, said that the introduction of new school uniforms by the administration of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) is a misplaced priority.
