The family of the second suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Tiger Eye PI investigator, Ahmed Hussein Suale, said that their relative was innocent.
Abdul Rashid Meizongo, 29, was arrested Thursday at the West Hills Mall in Weija via Acting Regional Police Commander of Accra, DCOP Kweku Boadu Peprah.
DCOP Preprah told Citi News that the suspect was still on the list of people wanted by the police.
But the suspect's brother, Abdul Nasir Meizongo, thinks his brother or sister is a victim of crime.
He insisted that the statements of the police were false.
"I have not had the opportunity to have a frank discussion with my brother about it. But I know that he was in contact with a policeman. The contact did not take place today; this has been going on for a few days now. There was no police station to which he related. There was no publication that he was looking for. Suddenly, he becomes suspicious in this case.
He added that the family was rebadured that the police were continuing their investigations in order to come to an appropriate conclusion.
"The police badured us that he was not yet a suspect. They badure us that they are still doing their job, so we should be [hopeful]. "
This arrest brings to two, the number of suspects arrested by the police for the murder.
The Acting Regional Police Commander of Accra, DCOP Kwaku Boadu Peprah, in an interview with Umaru Sanda of Citi News, said the investigations had begun in earnest.
DCOP Peprah said, "There is a suspect in connection with the death of Ahmed Suale and his name is Abdul Rasheed. He is 29 years old. This morning, we learned that the suspect had called a police officer and had told him that the Accra Regional Police Command was looking for him about Suale's death and that he wanted the police officer to kill him. Assists the Accra Regional Police to stop prosecuting him. He went to the West Hills Mall and when he came we arrested him.
DCOP Peprah said Rasheed was on the list of people wanted by the police.
The police administration has previously indicated that it had interrogated 13 suspects related to the murder of Ahmed Hussein Suale.
The police response to the arrested suspects is disappointing – Ahmed Suale's family
Ahmed Suale's family had earlier called on the Ghanaian police to be frank with the progress made with the arrests of people who may have played a role in the murder of their parent.
They say that they are not excited about how the case is handled by the police department.
"We listened to the police, but as a family, we are not satisfied with the information provided by the police because we made the arrest that the police spoke about. "
