MCM Akufo Addo Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is now known as Nana Sompahene Akufo-Addo I

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was named Nana Sompahene Akufo-Addo I by the leaders and the people of Atebubu.

The traditional council of Atebubu celebrated on Sunday the traditional rites and installed the president as head of the council bearing the name of the stool of the palace of Atebubu.

The president has been called "Sompahene", which literally means "good servant" after the creation of the Bono East area.

Traditional council president, Nana Owusu Acheaw Brempong I at the traditional rites, said that President Akufo-Addo deserved this honor for his many social intervention programs aimed at improving the socio-economic livelihoods of the people.

He added that the President's bold decision to create new regions indicated that the Government's process of national reconstruction was under way.

Nana Owusu Acheaw Brempong I expressed my optimism that soon Ghanaians would benefit from the Planting for Food and Jobs and One-District One Factory projects.

He then called on the government to tackle the perennial problem of water in the region.

The council presented to the president a male cow and 200 yam tubers in order to initiate him as a member of Owusu Asare stool, in accordance with the tradition of the people of Atebubu.

The president made a four-day working visit to the Bono, Northeast, and Ahafo regions.
