According to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), about five people were killed in a heavy rain Sunday night in Accra and other parts of the country.

NADMO, in an interview with Citi News and Joy News, said that he had found four bodies in the floodwaters in Adjei-Kojo, in the suburbs of Accra.

A six-year-old was also found dead in Sowutuom in the rain.

A search and rescue operation led by NADMO began around 9 pm Sunday night and continued until the bodies were found around 2 am Monday morning.

The mayor of Tema, Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, went to the scene of the incident and was there when the bodies were found.

On Sunday, April 14, 2019, rains flooded many areas in Accra.

The Meteorological Agency of Ghana (GMet) has already alerted on the rains, stating that "a rainstorm in the southern regions of Togo is expected to affect parts of the southern half of the country".

The rainstorm according to the Agency affected areas such as Kpetoe, Akatsi, Ho, Kpandu and surrounding areas in the Volta region.

In the eastern region, areas such as Koforidua, Begoro and Nkawkaw have also been affected.

Dodowa, Amasama, Afienya and many areas of Accra have also experienced heavy rains.

Exactly one week ago, on April 7, heavy rains killed five people in Accra, raising concerns about the city's readiness for the 2019 rainy season.
